Evaluation of Nanoparticle affinity for environmental surfaces: aggregation and deposition


Aggregation and deposition are analogous physical processes involving particle-particle or particle-surface interactions. The surface chemistry of these interactions have a profound effect on the transport and availability of NPs in the aqueous environment. This project quantifies the affinity of nanoparticles for various surfaces including other nanoparticles (as occurs in auto-aggregation), reference mineral, organic, and biological surfaces (heteroaggregation, deposition, biouptake) under various conditions of solution chemistry.
