ES&T special sub-issue highlights methods for detection of CNTs

CEINT research groups led by Dr. P. Lee Ferguson and Dr. Desiree L. Plata have published papers anchoring a new special sub-issue of Environmental Science & Technology. The papers significantly advance scientists' ability to detect and quantify carbon nanotubes (CNT) in the environment. Dr. Ferguson's contribution (featured on the cover of the journal's Nov. 20 issue) reports the application of near infrared fluorescence spectroscopy for sensitive and selective single-walled CNT analysis in sediments, while Dr. Plata's work illustrates the use of thermogravimetric analysis coupled to mass spectrometry for quantifying CNTs in aerosols and sediments.
